We are proud to bring back Ben Annand to the forest to lay down some beats at Slinky Family Gathering this year.
Ben Annand Detailed info and bio…
Ben Annand has been djing since 1996 – originally resident dj and promoter for Planet 9 Productions, he started his own party, Tropical, in 1998. The same year he became resident dj for the famed Moontribe Collective, taking his sound out to the desert under the full moon at every opportunity. Though most parties going on in 1998 have long since ground to a halt, both Moontribe and Tropical continue strong to this day.
Ben has now organized about 55 Tropical parties over the past 14 years, bringing the Tropical house sound initially to warehouses but eventually diversifying with boat parties, beach parties and campouts. Most recently Ben has begun running Tropical stages at larger outdoor festivals. Tropical is a 100% for charity party and has donated over $7000 to date.
Moontribe celebrated it’s 19th anniversary on June 2, 2012 and Ben had almost 5 hours of play time there, mixing a “desert house” set as only he can do, and then coming back on the decks at night with an almost polar-opposite nighttime techno set that one fan described as the best techno of all time.
Unlike most people there, Ben actually arrived at the Moontribe party from San Francisco as he was also booked to play at that city’s top underground house party, Forward, the night before. Further showing his wide musical range, Ben played a deeper tropical house sound at Forward which so impressed Adnan that Ben was added as the newest Forward resident in June 2012.
Over the years Ben has left his mark not only in California but also internationally with highlights including Labyrinth in Japan, Wiggle at Fabric in London, Festimad and Rave Ano Nuevo in Madrid, 13 trips to Moscow’s Propaganda club plus all over Russia and Siberia, and the Aca World Sound Festival, where he first met Adnan in Acapulco in 2001. He has also played most major US cities including New York, Boston, Miami, Minneapolis, Detroit, Seattle, Portland, Phoenix, and Las Vegas.
