| Wow, Slinky VI is in the books.
I can’t even begin to describe how amazing it was to see people having so much fun at our little forest event. We have truly been blessed with an awesome group of supporters and lovers of music that come out every time to enjoy what we have planned for the night.
We arrived at the location on Saturday morning around 8am. We wanted to make sure the place was all to ourselves and good to go. Thankfully it was. We spent most of the day setting up and laying around trying to relax, which none of us could.
By the time Alex and I headed down to the map point it was nice to see several cars already there awaiting our arrival. Time flew by and we even waited until 12:30 for some of you to make sure you made it. Heading back up to the party around 1:30am we came upon a car that was stuck, we managed to lift the car out and proceed to the event.
When we arrived the party was on full speed ahead. It was quite a sight to see. The projector that Alicia borrowed turned out to be spectacular and the disco ball was just the right touch. It’s nice to see things turn out so well after hard work and planning.
I missed Christian and Franke, but heard they both had very good sets.
Q Burns Abstract Message was already in the mix when I got out of our car and was playing his usual fantastic techy, funky, booty shaking house. He has never disappointed.
After Q was our own Lando. Lando proceeded to take the party into a completely perfect direction. I think Lando played the best set I’ve ever heard him play, from start to finish it was bliss. He played a set full of tech, acid, funk and couldn’t have chosen a better sound for our location and environment. Big congrats to our local boy making good once again. Lando is truly our own secret weapon, well in my opinion anyway!
Next up was Alex Castillo, making his debut at his first JAM On It event. Alex has been a huge part in planning and setting up and organizing our events from the beginning and it was a nice sight to see him get to play at our party finally. Let me say that for a guy being so nervous about his set, he sure didn’t let anyone know that by his flawless mixing, his impeccable track selection and all around energy. He took over where Lando left off and made several people do double takes realizing that he was the one spinning. Tons of kudos to Alex for representing and proving that all the practice, time and dedication pay off when you want to get good at something. Alex thanks for your set, it was rad.
And finally closing out the night was Drue Sullivan at his 2nd Slinky appearance. Drue was a huge help during the day setting up and helping Alicia do parking all night. It’s hard to believe that all of the djs I heard were on such a similar wavelength as they were. I thought that when Drue came on he completed the night in such a way that it seemed almost pre-rehearsed. He did a fine job and really closed Slinky out right. Thank you Drue for some fantastic music once again!
So enough about the djs, lol, they all were fantastic and I can’t say that enough!
I’d like to thank the people from I-Rave that managed to come out and support our adventures in the forest as they always do. You guys truly make it all worth doing over and over again. Your support means the world to us and as long as you keep showing it, we’ll keep throwing it.
Also to the RLF oldies, big dusty thank you for your continued dedication to driving out to the middle of nowhere for some dirty low down fun.
Thank you to all of the people that took home trash and stayed to help us clean up. At first it seemed like the ground was a mess, but I think once I really started to look around the place was in really good condition and that credit is due to all of you party goers that were responsible for your own trash and managed to put in effort to clean up. Thank you so much for your hard work.
Thank you to the guy in the Jeep for loaning your tow chain and the person that pulled out that other truck that was stuck. It is a wonderful thing when people help other people in need. Thank you for your selflessness and willingness to assist a fellow partier. I’m sure they were very grateful.
We’d love to hear your stories and feedback, so either email us or join our messageboard to say a few words.
Oh and remember to keep on dancing…

Our best event
is back! This year we have one of our best lineups ever. With the
addition of Q-Burns Abstract Message and the forest setting we have
planned, this party is guaranteed to go off in a major way.
There will be NO info line for this party. If you want to find out
information you must be on our email list. To join that list email us
with your request.
Feel free to bring out tents, water to share, food to share, any lights
or things to enhance the party. DO NOT bring out wood for fires, as this
is a very high fire risk area. Fires will not be tolerated unless
contained in a barbecue grill.
This event is going to be in an outdoor setting. Littering and nature
abuse will not be tolerated. If at any point during this event we find
someone is not abiding by the rules of respect we are trying to uphold
we will ask you and your group to leave our event.

The spot we
threw Slinky IV at was unbelievably cool. From the moment we arrived and
met the "Rattlesnake Man" to the endless line of cars that ended up
arriving, this Slinky was one to be remembered.
It's hard to imagine the vibe from our first Slinky still resonating
strong at the 4th installment. Something special is definitely formed
when you bring great people together for one purpose. When they love to
laugh, dance and get down to great music and spend time with friends
nothing can go wrong. SpongeBob SquarePants made his second appearance
at one of our events thanks to Alicia! :)
It was unfortunate that Frank E couldn't make it for his set at this
party, but we were treated to Lucas from Distantbeat for a few tracks
and Rhuson from Houseplants dropped some beats also in the morning.
Thank you both for being a part of our night.

This Slinky is the year we added "The Real" onto the name because the
lame euros that run that Slinky record label and I think club think our
little party would effect them.
But it still turned out to be one heck of a party. This party ended up
being in the desert, the only Slinky not to take place in the desert. We
had two areas spread out well enough to not train wreck each other and
the djs in a canopy booth. We battle some fierce winds during setup and
when the sun went down we all breathed a sigh of relieve when the wind
went away for good and the night wasn't too cool.
The traffic turned out to be bad that night because of road work on the
freeway, but we had around 500 people turn out for this party. John
Kelley was caught in the traffic, but did have a great set once he
arrived. We even had a streaker that night. I think that falls under the
top ten signs you had a great party.

Our second Slinky event. We did this one free of charge and it was our
first time in Frazier Park. With some big help from our friends with
parking and other help this party was awesome. We ended up with about
400 people and had the Sheriff come by 2 times and still partied until 8
in the morning.
This also was the first party we got the pleasure of hearing Lando at
and we were glad to make him a lifetime resident after that set.

Our very first Slinky event went perfectly all night. We began loading
people in busses around 8pm. We had a fleet of tour busses to shuttle
partygoers to the entrance of our event. Once they were all unloaded the
adventure began. The people then had to walk up an adventurous pathway
to the party for about half a mile. There they found 2 areas of Tonka
sound, $1 waters and a huge grass area for tents and camping.
We had around 1,200 people attend and had no problems all night. We went
on until 9am while Doran and Vlady closed out both areas. Not a lot of
people lasted until 9am, but it was a great way to close out the morning
with all of the people who had helped make that day possible. We also
got so many good responses that night, that we decided to continue doing
events, but on a smaller scale. |
